Three fire crews raced to Iceland in Chineham, near Basingstoke, this morning after a deep freezer burst into flames.
Smoke Sparks Panic at Basingstoke Store
Staff spotted smoke coming from a chest freezer and quickly raised the alarm just before lunchtime on Wednesday. They evacuated customers outside, keeping everyone safe while the fire service was called.
Firefighters Tackle Tiny Blaze
Crews from Tadley, Hartley, and a whole-time team from Basingstoke arrived fast. Using two breathing apparatus sets, two hosereels, and a jet, they swiftly doused the small but smoky fire.
No Injuries, Minor Damage
Thankfully, no one was hurt. The fire caused only minor damage to the store’s shelving. Investigators say the blaze likely started due to an electrical fault and is not being treated as suspicious.
