Raw Sewage Floods Guildford Building AGAIN – Residents Left Powerless
Surrey Fire and Rescue were scrambled for the FOURTH time in three months to Austen House, Station View, Guildford, after raw sewage flooded the electrical plant room once more this Monday morning (November 27).
Alarm Raised Over Smell of Burning
A concerned resident alerted crews after smelling something burning. Two fire engines from Guildford rushed to the scene alongside UK Power engineers called in to make the area safe. An engineer is on site isolating the power from street level as accessing the building’s supply remains too dangerous.
The fire alarm continues to blare in the basement car park – the same alarm barely silenced less than four months ago after residents moved in.
Sewage Stench and Flood Chaos
The foul stench of raw sewage hangs over the car park and corridors. Specialists will be brought in to tackle the nightmare – sewage reportedly four feet deep, soaking the electrical switching gear and plant room.
With power cut off, residents are left powerless and unable to cook. One tenant revealed this sewage nightmare has dragged on for at least a day.
Faulty Pump Blamed for Latest Disaster
Investigations revealed a secondary pump, not listed on the official building plans, was supposed to help remove waste but wasn’t switched on. This failure forced the plant room to flood once again, plunging residents into yet another crisis.
