Eight Fire Engines Battled Fierce Maresfield Blaze
East Sussex firefighters raced to a raging house fire in Maresfield this afternoon. Eight fire crews and a specialist command unit were scrambled after flames broke out on Cackle Street.
Huge Emergency Response to Maresfield Inferno
The emergency call came in at 2:11pm on 28 November, reporting a property engulfed in flames. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) launched a massive response, deploying eight fire engines and a Command Control Unit to tackle the fierce blaze head-on.
Thankfully, no one was inside the property. There have been no casualties or missing persons.
Firefighters Struggle Through Toxic Smoke
Crews wore breathing apparatus and unleashed high-pressure hose reels to wrestle the fire under control. ESFRS warned the public to steer clear of the scene amid thick, toxic smoke and fumes.
Nearby residents were urged to keep doors and windows firmly shut to avoid inhaling hazardous gases.
Ongoing Battle and Strict Safety Warnings
At 3:40pm, firefighters were still fully engaged at the scene, holding the line. By 6:30pm, the response team was reduced to four fire engines, but the battle was far from over.
ESFRS: “We ask residents to continue to keep windows and doors closed.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Fire crews remain on site, fighting to secure the property and prevent further danger.
