Blaze Breaks Out in Rochester Flat – Quick Response Saves the Day!
Emergency crews raced to a fire at a flat on Maidstone Road, Rochester, on Saturday morning, 7 June.
The alarm sounded at 11:49am, sending three fire engines from Kent Fire and Rescue Service to tackle the blaze. Firefighters, donned in breathing apparatus, unleashed one jet of water and had the flames under control by 12:21pm.
Swift Action Stops Fire from Spreading
The fire was confined to the flat thanks to the rapid response. Crews worked fast to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighbouring properties.
One resident was treated by paramedics for minor smoke inhalation. Luckily, no serious injuries were reported.
Cause of the Fire: Accidental Hob Mishap
Investigators believe the fire started accidentally when a hob was left switched on, igniting nearby items.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service warned:
“To reduce kitchen fire risks, keep oven gloves, towels, and flammable items at least 50cm away from the hob.”
