Londoners, prepare for significant travel disruptions this Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed extensive closures and service reductions across multiple transport networks from Good Friday, April 18, through to Monday, April 21, due to essential engineering works.
DLR Suspensions Over Entire Weekend
Passengers will not be able to use the DLR services between Westferry, West India Quay, and Tower Gateway during this period. TfL has suspended all trains on these key routes for the full four days:
- No trains running from Westferry or West India Quay to Stratford or Canning Town.
- Complete service suspension between Tower Gateway and Shadwell.
Elizabeth Line and Piccadilly Line Service Reductions
The Elizabeth Line will operate with fewer trains between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4/Maidenhead from April 18 to 21. Additionally, on Easter Sunday, April 20, the stations Acton Main Line, West Ealing, and Hanwell will be closed.
The Piccadilly Line will see no trains running between Acton Town and Uxbridge throughout the entire weekend.
London Overground Closures and Altered Timetables
Several London Overground lines will face closures and timetable changes during the Easter weekend:
- Lioness Line: On April 19 and 21, no trains will run between Kilburn High Road and Euston. On April 20, there will be no service between Euston and Watford Junction.
- Mildmay Line: On April 19, the early morning train from Clapham Junction to Stratford will be rerouted to start from Gospel Oak. On April 20, morning trains from Stratford will begin at Willesden Junction. After 7:30pm on April 21, no trains will run between Richmond and Willesden Junction.
- Suffragette Line: On April 20 until 10am, no service will operate between Gospel Oak and Barking Riverside. After 10am, there will be no service between Barking and Barking Riverside; passengers are advised to use EL1, EL2, or EL3 bus services instead. On the morning of April 21, the early train from Barking Riverside to Gospel Oak will be cancelled.
- Windrush Line: There will be a complete shutdown between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction/Battersea Park for the entire weekend.
Additional Disruptions and Travel Advice
Tram services will not run between Sandilands and New Addington until April 18. The Waterloo & City Line will be closed for the entire Easter weekend, as it operates only on weekdays.
Bus routes will also be affected, with Route 34 impacted at Cooks Ferry Roundabout and Route 444 experiencing disruptions from Hall Lane.
TfL urges all passengers to check live travel updates via their official website or app and to allow extra time for journeys during this period. Careful planning is recommended to avoid travel delays and inconvenience.
