A grim discovery has shocked Leicestershire as police have found a body in the search for missing man Mark Parry, who vanished three days ago.
Mark Parry, 45, was last seen leaving his East Shilton home on Wednesday afternoon carrying a holdall and a rucksack. His sudden disappearance caused urgent welfare concerns among his family and police.
On Saturday, a body was recovered near Thornton Reservoir, which is nearly ten miles from Mark’s last known location. Although formal identification is still pending, police believe the remains are those of Mark Parry. His family has been informed and is receiving support during this difficult time.
Authorities have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. A file is being prepared for the HM Coroner as investigations continue.
Mark was last in contact with a relative on Thursday morning before disappearing without a trace.
This tragic discovery follows a similar recent case in Norfolk, where the body of 79-year-old Jill Grint was recovered from the River Yare during a separate search.
Leicestershire Police continue to appeal to anyone with information about Mark Parry’s disappearance to come forward as the community copes with this heartbreaking loss.
