Five fire engines and approximately 35 firefighters were dispatched to a ground-floor flat on Woburn Place, Bloomsbury, after flames broke out in part of the one-roomed unit.

The London Fire Brigade received the emergency call at 17:19, and the fire was successfully brought under control within an hour.

Wearing breathing apparatus, courageous firefighters entered the burning flat and rescued a man. He received immediate treatment from London Ambulance Service personnel at the scene before being rushed to hospital. His current condition has not been disclosed.

Fire crews from Euston, Soho, Islington, and Kentish Town stations worked together to tackle the blaze. Although the flat sustained damage, the fire was contained quickly.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and remains under investigation.
