Nam Le, aged 30, has been jailed for two years and nine months after West Midlands Police seized 23kg of cannabis valued at up to £140,000 during a raid on his home in Lloyd Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, in October.
The drug bust was part of the wider Operation Fearless, an initiative aimed at disrupting organised crime across the West Midlands region.
During the raid, officers discovered 2kg of cannabis hidden inside a wardrobe and £8,000 in cash in a bedroom. Additionally, £1,000 was found in a car linked to Le parked outside the property. A nearby van connected to Le contained suitcases and bags holding a further 21kg of cannabis.
Detective Inspector Tom Lyons described the seizure as “a significant recovery of drugs.” The raid was conducted under Operation Fearless, which targets serious organised crime groups operating in the area.
Le admitted to possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of criminal property. On Friday, at Birmingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to nearly three years in prison.
Detective Inspector Lyons added, “We believe the drugs belonged to a wider organised crime group and would have been sold to fund further serious criminal activities.” The confiscation represents a significant blow to criminal networks operating in Birmingham.
