Thousands of Beko Dryers Put Homes at Risk After Fatal Fire
Thousands of Beko tumble dryers have been flagged over fire risks — including one model linked to a deadly blaze that claimed the life of a mother of two. The manufacturer has issued a safety alert, warning that a faulty component could overheat and spark a fire.
Faulty Component Sparks Safety Warning
Beko revealed it found a problem with a third-party part in around 3,450 dryers sold between May and November 2012. The affected models include Beko and Blomberg 8kg and 9kg capacity tumble dryers with model numbers DCU9330W, DCU9330R, DCU8230, DSC85W, and TKF8439A.
Urgent Warning: Stop Using Machines Immediately
The company urges owners of these specific dryers to cease using them at once and unplug the machines as a safety precaution. Beko is offering free home visits from engineers to inspect and fix any faulty appliances.
Link to Fatal Fire, But Separate Issue
One affected model, the 8kg DSC85W, was involved in the tragic death of Mishell Moloney last year. However, Beko emphasises that this latest recall relates to a different fault.
Owners worried about their dryer’s safety should contact Beko immediately to arrange an inspection and avoid any potential disaster.
