One lane of the A27 towards Chichester was closed following a dramatic car crash that left a vehicle overturned this afternoon. The incident occurred just after 2pm, approximately a mile from Emsworth Services, resulting in heavy delays for drivers heading into Chichester.
Emergency services including police, fire crews, and ambulance teams responded swiftly to the scene. Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that a silver car, driven by a pensioner, was involved in the single-vehicle collision. Firefighters from Havant Fire Station secured the car and stopped leaking fluids to protect the road surface.
One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries, while paramedics continued to treat the driver at the roadside. The lane closure was expected to remain in place for several hours as recovery crews worked to right and clear the overturned vehicle, causing long queues for motorists.
