Tragic Blaze in Romsey Claims 51-Year-Old Woman’s Life
A fatal fire ripped through a Romsey home in the early hours of Monday, leaving a 51-year-old woman dead. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were scrambled to a house blaze in Jacobs Close at 2:59am on February 4.
Firefighters Battle Flames in Bedroom
Three fire crews from Romsey, Redbridge, and Eastleigh rushed to tackle the fire erupting in the first-floor bedroom of the two-storey property. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus fought the flames using a hose reel and tactical ventilation.
Woman Dies at Scene, Man Hospitalised
The fire was declared under control by 4:09am, but the tragedy was confirmed when South Central Ambulance Service pronounced the woman dead at the scene. A man suffering from smoke inhalation was rushed to University Hospital Southampton for treatment.
Flames Reignite Hours Later
Fire crews had to return the next morning on February 5 to stamp out the fire again after it unexpectedly reignited, ensuring no further damage was done.
