Blaze Rips Through 15th Floor Flat in High-Rise Fire
A fierce fire tore through half of a five-room flat on the 15th floor of a 19-story apartment block, causing serious damage to both the flat and part of the roof.
Firefighters Battle Hours-Long Blaze
The inferno was clearly visible, with London’s Brigade 999 Control Centre bombarded by 95 frantic calls at the height of the chaos. Fire crews fought the flames using a massive 64-metre turntable ladder.
120 Residents Evacuated – No Injuries
About 120 people were evacuated safely from the building. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
“The firefighting crews made steady progress. It was a lengthy incident, and our crews will be on the scene for several hours,” said Station Commander Colin Digby.
Massive Response and Ongoing Investigation
The alarm was raised at 11:58am, with the fire finally being extinguished by 4:08pm. Multiple fire crews from berkshire999.co.uk/where/bromley/" title="Bromley" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Bromley, Beckenham, Addington, Woodside, Lewisham, Forest Hill, Sidcup, Croydon, Bexley, Orpington, and Battersea joined the effort.
Officials are still investigating how the fire started.
