A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after her little one fell from a first-floor window in Gosport this morning. The child was rushed to hospital following the terrifying incident.
Child Hurt After Fall, Neighbours Shocked
The drama unfolded just after 8:30am at Renown House, where neighbours said paramedics arrived swiftly and took the injured child away in an ambulance. Residents watched in shock as police swarmed the block all morning.
One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed the mum was so drunk she was asleep when the fall happened. “I saw the child fall from the window and ran downstairs to help. The child was covered in blood,” they said. The mum was reportedly too intoxicated to accompany the child to hospital.
Child’s Injuries Not Life-Threatening
The youngster was transported to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham. A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance confirmed: “We were called at 8.39am to reports of a child falling from a window in Gosport. The child was taken to hospital after sustaining minor injuries.”
A police spokeswoman added the child is still undergoing tests and investigations remain ongoing.
