Knife Attacks and Shooting Spark Fear Across London
London has been rocked by a string of violent assaults between January 26 and 27, spreading terror from Ilford to Crystal Palace and Carshalton. Though the incidents hit close together, police say there’s no clear connection yet.
Daylight Stabbing Outside Ilford Town Hall
At 4.20pm on January 26, chaos erupted on Ilford High Road. A man was stabbed in broad daylight outside Ilford Town Hall. Emergency crews treated him on the spot before rushing him to hospital. His condition is still unknown, and no arrests have been made.
Witnesses described a grisly scene. “Forensics were everywhere with numbered markers all over Ilford where blood was found,” said one onlooker. Officers worked late into the night collecting evidence.
Man Shot in Crystal Palace Suffers Life-Altering Injuries
The violence escalated the next day around 10pm on Hamlet Road, Crystal Palace. Three armed gunmen targeted a man in his 20s inside a flat. Another man, also in his 20s, showed up later and was shot, too.
The attackers sped away in a car. Both victims were hospitalised, with the first suffering life-changing injuries. The second victim’s wounds are described as less severe.
Murder Inquiry After Woman Found Dead in Ilford
Just hours after the Ilford stabbing, police discovered a woman dead at her home on Applegarth Drive at 4am on January 27. A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Detective Inspector Nikki Hardy said: “We acknowledge the distress this news is likely to cause in the local community, and are working hard to establish exactly what happened.”
The victim’s next of kin has not yet been identified.
Teen Stabbed Near Carshalton Park
Violence struck again near Carshalton Park on January 27, just before 1.50pm. A 17-year-old boy was found with a slash wound to his stomach near Grove Park on Carshalton High Street. He was taken to hospital and his condition remains unknown. No arrests have been made.
