Tragic Fire Claims Life of Peggy Wright, 83
Peggy Wright, 83, suffered severe injuries after leaping from a window to flee a fire at her Lapworth Grove home on Sunday morning (18 April). Rushed to hospital, she sadly died later that day. Police have now launched a murder investigation.
Family Pay Heartbreaking Tribute
A deeply emotional tribute from her family described Peggy as “a much-loved and respected member of the community.” They said:
“A mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was devoted to her family but always showed kindness and compassion to others. Her sudden loss has left a void that can never be filled. We thank everyone for their support and kindly ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
Investigation Intensifies as Suspect Detained
- A 52-year-old man, also hospitalised with burns, remains in stable condition.
- A 46-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been detained under the Mental Health Act following expert assessment.
