West Midlands Police have smashed a daring cable theft in Birmingham city centre, catching three men red-handed trying to nick underground cables.
Caught Red-Handed on Great Charles Queensway
The action kicked off at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, January 20, when alert members of the public tipped off firearms officers about a gang fiddling with cables.
Two men, aged 48 and 45, were swiftly arrested on suspicion of theft. Officers also found a van packed with stolen cables.
Police Dog Riot Sniffs Out Third Suspect
The third crook, 37, believed to be hiding underground, was tracked down and coaxed out thanks to the quick work of Police Dog Riot before being nabbed for theft.
Rapid Response Earns Praise
“This was a fantastic response from our firearms, dogs and Birmingham officers, in bringing three suspects into custody quickly,” said Detective Superintendent Dave Sproson.
