Erith Shooting Horror: Victim Named as Kai McGinley

Tragedy struck Erith last night when 24-year-old Kai McGinley was shot dead by a gang wearing balaclavas. The chilling attack unfolded on Pembroke Road just before 9pm on Thursday, February 9. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene after reports of gunfire, while forensic teams remain there today hunting for clues.

Car Chase Ends in Cold-Blooded Murder

Kai was found in Hillside with fatal gunshot wounds. Witnesses say the shooting followed a dramatic car chase involving a white Mini Clubman and a Land Rover Freelander. The attackers rammed the Mini, trapped Kai’s vehicle, then fired two shots, killing him instantly despite desperate paramedic efforts.

Family and Friends Mourn on Social Media

Heartbroken loved ones have flooded Kai’s Facebook with tributes. “Rest in peace, my boy,” reads one message. A woman claiming to be his girlfriend posted: “Tonight, my boyfriend died on the scene. Please give me space for a few days. If you have any info, contact the police or me.”

A cousin added: “I’m numb and heartbroken. Kai felt more like a brother than a cousin – I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone.” Others wrote, “Sleep well, my angel” and “Rest in beautiful and perfect peace, Kai.”

Gunman Still on the Run, Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up

Residents near Pembroke Road reported hearing up to seven gunshots. One witness described hearing four or five shots followed by screams. Another saw a neighbour rushing to help, applying pressure to Kai’s wounds with bloodied hands. “He was frozen in shock,” said the witness.
