Crash Shakes A1068 Near Widdrington
An 18-year-old woman remains in serious condition in hospital three days after a terrifying crash on the Northumberland Coastal Route. The smash happened just before 3:30pm on Tuesday along the A1068 near Widdrington.
Northumbria Police say a black Ford Focus veered off the eastbound lane and flipped over. Emergency crews rushed to the scene. The injured woman, believed to be a passenger, was later found at a property in Ashington and rushed to hospital.
Suspect Arrested, Now Out on Bail
An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail while police dig deeper into the crash.
Northumbria Police have issued a plea for anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward immediately.
