Police have closed the A32 in both directions after a serious crash near Wickham. A 14-year-old boy sustained serious injuries following a collision involving three vehicles on a well-known accident blackspot locals refer to as “car crash alley.”

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 7.30pm. Fire crews from Fareham are using cutting equipment to remove the roof of one vehicle to free a trapped family. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, along with South Central Ambulance’s hazardous area response team, were also dispatched to assist.

Rescue efforts have been complicated by bad weather, with heavy rain making the operation more difficult.

A Hampshire Police spokesman confirmed: “A 14-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. The road is currently closed northbound towards Wickham, so please avoid the area while emergency services manage the incident.”

One patient has been transported by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital. Another adult female involved in the crash has serious but not life-threatening injuries and has also been hospitalised.

South Central Ambulance Service stated: “Police called us at 7.31pm for a three-vehicle collision with two patients – a 14-year-old boy and an adult female. Both have been transported to Southampton General Hospital. The boy’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening; the female’s injuries are not life-threatening.”

The A32 remains closed in both directions as police and emergency teams continue to clear the scene. Officers have spoken to witnesses, but no arrests have been made so far.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area for several hours while the investigation and clean-up continue.
