Wiltshire Police have arrested two individuals following a high-speed chase involving a stolen Jaguar this morning. The incident began around 10:30 am when officers received a tip-off that a 16-year-old had joyridden a Jaguar stolen from a home in Shrewton.
The stolen vehicle was later spotted speeding along the A36 near Westbury. When the teenager refused to stop, police authorized a pursuit. The National Police Air Service (NPAS) provided aerial support to track the car during the chase.
The pursuit ended dramatically on the A350 after officers successfully flattened the car’s tyres, forcing it off the road. The vehicle crashed, and two young men from Devizes were arrested at the scene.
Both suspects now face serious charges including dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, theft of a motor vehicle, and burglary. One suspect is currently in custody at Melksham and is cooperating with the investigation. The other remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police investigations into the theft and burglary are ongoing. A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said, “Thanks to the swift actions of our officers and support from NPAS, we safely ended this dangerous pursuit and ensured those responsible face justice.”
The chase caused significant traffic disruption on the A350, with police advising motorists to avoid the area until the crash was cleared. Fortunately, no members of the public were injured during the incident.
Authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the theft and subsequent events, with further updates expected as the investigation progresses.
