Taxi Driver Stabbed to Death in Solihull – Man Arrested
Tragedy struck Solihull early Tuesday morning when taxi driver Mohammed Istakhar, 44, was found fatally stabbed. Police hauled in an 18-year-old suspect the very next day, who remains in custody as the investigation heats up.
Taxi Driver Attacked at Dawn
Mr Istakhar was discovered with serious injuries at 6.45am on Tuesday at the junction of Braggs Farm Lane and Lady Lane. Despite frantic efforts, medics could not save him.
Investigators have revealed that Mr Istakhar had just driven a fare from Birmingham city centre to Solihull earlier that morning.
Suspect Arrested, Police Probe Ongoing
An 18-year-old man voluntarily came forward to police on Wednesday evening and was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning as detectives piece together the attack.
Detective Inspector Michelle Thurgood said: “Our thoughts are with the family of Mr Istakhar at this tragic time. We are carrying out door-to-door inquiries, CCTV review, and forensic checks to understand exactly what happened.”
She urged anyone with information, who has not yet come forward, to contact police immediately.
Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute
Mr Istakhar’s devastated loved ones have paid tribute to the hardworking father of five.
“Our daddy, our hero. Our hardworking father has been taken so quickly from us. He was our world, loved and respected by the whole community. He leaves behind his grieving wife, his five children, elderly mother, three sisters, one brother, and beloved pets. Our martyr will live on, setting an example for his children. He will never be forgotten. See you on the other side, daddy.”
