South Yorkshire firearms officers sprang into action and arrested a man within an hour of a daring armed robbery in Doncaster.
Armed Robbery Shakes Doncaster High Street
At 11:19am on 15 January, police were called to High Street, Dunsville, after a man threatened shop staff with what appeared to be a firearm. He demanded cash before making a swift getaway in a car.
High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest Near Nottinghamshire Border
- The suspect, a man in his 40s, sped off towards Nottinghamshire.
- South Yorkshire Police teamed up with Nottinghamshire firearms officers for a cross-border pursuit.
- Police intercepted the vehicle near the A614.
- The suspect was in custody less than an hour after the robbery.

“Firearms officers face some of the highest risk situations in policing, responding daily to incidents where the threat of serious harm is real and immediate,” said Firearms Inspector Steve Usher. “This incident is a reminder our officers will, without doubt, respond for our communities.”
The man remains in police custody as investigations into the robbery continue.
