A dramatic incident occurred on Saturday night when a speedboat smashed into the Cowes harbour wall and later crashed again at Gosport Marina. The collisions resulted in three people being injured and prompted a large-scale emergency response across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Just before 11pm, Hampshire and Isle of Wight police were alerted by South Central Ambulance Service about the speedboat crash at Gosport Marina. Three individuals on board sustained injuries. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening, and all three were taken to hospital for treatment.

Investigations revealed that the speedboat had initially collided with the harbour wall in Cowes earlier that evening. This first collision triggered a major rescue operation involving police, coastguard, and emergency services. The Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team and Gosport Inshore Independent Lifeboat were among those who joined the efforts.

Extensive searches by land, sea, and air were conducted covering Cowes, East Cowes, and the upper Medina area into the early hours, but the vessel was not immediately located.

The situation took a turn when the same speedboat was found crashed at Gosport Marina around 11pm, confirming the connection between the two incidents. Emergency crews responded quickly to provide medical assistance to the injured individuals.

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said, “Our enquiries into the circumstances of this incident are ongoing.”

The full details of how the boat travelled from Cowes to Gosport and what transpired in between remain unclear. Police continue their investigations as questions remain about this chaotic night on the water.
