Police in Hampshire are urgently seeking information following a brutal bottle attack that left a man with serious head injuries in Southampton.
The incident occurred on Lower Bannister Street on Wednesday, 2 March, between 10.50pm and 11.20pm. A man in his 50s was assaulted by three men wielding a glass bottle. Officers discovered a broken bottle at the scene.
The victim sustained a fractured skull and brain bleed. He was rushed to Southampton General Hospital and has since been discharged.
Investigators have followed multiple leads and are now looking to question three men seen near the scene at the time of the attack. The descriptions are as follows:
- Man 1: White, in his 20s, approximately 6ft tall, with a stocky build
- Men 2 and 3: White, in their 20s, with slim builds
Detective Rebecca Stevens stated: “The victim had attended the Southampton vs West Ham football match before visiting the Giddy Bridge pub. We believe the suspects were also at the pub, and an altercation there may have sparked the attack.”
Police are urging anyone who was at the Giddy Bridge pub that night, witnessed a fight, or saw someone carrying a glass bottle acting suspiciously to come forward.
