RGP Officer Arrested Over Shocking Sexual Assault Claims
Serving Police Cop Nabbed
A serving 32-year-old officer of the Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) was arrested yesterday afternoon, shortly after 2 p.m., on suspicion of sexual assault, attempted rape, and misconduct in public office. The arrest came following an allegation made earlier this week.
Victim Also a Police Officer
Detectives from the RGP’s Professional Standards Department detained the suspect. The alleged victim is a fellow serving police officer. Sources say the troubling incident took place at New Mole House Police Station.
Investigation Underway & Officer Bailed
After his arrest, the officer was bailed last night under strict conditions as the Professional Standards Department continues its probe. Meanwhile, he has been interdicted from duty, pending the outcome of the investigation.
