Police in Sevenoaks have issued a computer-generated image of a suspect linked to a disturbing sexual assault that took place in the area. The incident occurred just before midday on Wednesday, 23 September 2020.
A woman walking along Bradbourne Vale Road was approached by a man who asked for help with an ill child. The woman agreed to assist and followed the man to St John’s Road, where a white van with an open side door was waiting. The van was noted to have a silver, tarnished roof rack.
The man allegedly pushed the woman into the back of the van, climbed in after her, shut the door, and committed an indecent act. The victim managed to escape when the door was opened.
The suspect has been described as a white male in his mid-40s, approximately 5ft 8ins tall with a stocky build. He has receding shaved hair and stubble. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a green and blue T-shirt with a black emblem, baggy faded jeans with a hole in the knee, and trainers.
Detective Inspector Matt Burdekin of the Tonbridge Vulnerability Investigation Team urged the public to come forward with any information. He said, “We want anyone who recognises this man or was in the area to come forward. Motorists are urged to check dashcams and residents should review home CCTV or doorbell footage.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police on 01622 604100 quoting crime reference 46/170718/20.
