Brazen Brandy and Cider Theft Sparks Police Appeal in Compton Acres

Two men stormed into a Compton Acres newsagent and stole booze — a bottle of brandy and some bottled cider — in a grab-and-go heist that left staff shaken and angry.

Thieves Swiped Bottle of Brandy and Bottled Cider

One man slipped a bottle of brandy inside his coat jacket, while his partner nabbed a bottle of cider from the fridge, hiding it under his hoody. The pair made off without paying and reportedly acted aggressively towards the stunned shop staff.

Shop Manager Speaks Out: “Aggression is Disgusting”

The shop manager, who asked not to be named, condemned the attack. He said:

“It’s been a really difficult time for everyone the past 12 months. We’ve stayed open through the pandemic to make sure our community can get essentials. When we’re targeted and abused, it’s horrible. You feel angry and distraught. The drinks didn’t cost much but being shouted at while we work is disgusting.”

He added his thanks to locals who showed support since the robbery and hopes CCTV footage will help nab the culprits.

Police Launch Investigation, Urge Public to Help

Nottinghamshire Police have released CCTV images of two men they believe are linked to the theft. Police Sergeant Amy Wilson is leading the probe. She warned:

“Shop theft is totally unacceptable and we will take action. These incidents harm businesses financially and are deeply distressing for staff. Shop workers have played a key frontline role during the pandemic and deserve respect.”

Sergeant Wilson urged witnesses to come forward:

“If you saw anything suspicious around 6.20pm on Saturday 10 April, or recognise either man, please call 101 quoting incident number 147 of 11 April 2021.”
