Durham Police Hunt 19-Year-Old Ashton Anderson Over Shocking Seaham Murder

Tragic Hit-and-Run Claims Young Man’s Life

Durham cops are scouring Seaham for 19-year-old Ashton Anderson, wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run on Stockton Road near the New Seaham Service Station.

The horror unfolded just before 5pm last Thursday, January 15. Officers raced to the scene after reports that a vehicle struck a man in his 20s on the forecourt. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is devastated and being supported by specialist officers.

Seven Arrested as Police Ramp Up Murder Hunt

  • Three teenage lads and a man in his 50s have all been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody.
  • One teenage woman and two women in their 40s face questioning over assisting an offender.

The Major Crime Team at Durham Constabulary is leading a high-profile probe into the incident.

Anderson, described as around 5ft 10in, slim, with short brown hair, is currently wanted for questioning. Anyone who spots him or knows his location should call Durham Police on 101, quoting incident number 281 of January 15.

DCI Chris Woollett said: “I’d like to thank the community of Seaham for their support while our officers have been carrying out their inquiries since Thursday evening. An increased police presence will remain at a number of locations in and around the area while the investigation continues. “I want to reassure the public there’s no wider risk. Anyone caught helping or hiding suspects will face firm action. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends.”
