Cop Nearly Mowed Down by Moped Thugs in Shocking Hounslow Attack

Officer Hurt in Shocking Moped Smash

Detectives are hunting for witnesses after a police officer was slammed by a motorbike in Isleworth. The drama unfolded on Tuesday, 17 April at 14:48, when two men on a suspicious moped were spotted peering into parked cars near Syon Park.

Officers tracked the bike to Gillette Corner, Hounslow, and approached the rider. Suddenly, the rider sped off and rammed into one of the officers, dragging him along for about five metres before he was thrown off and hit his head hard on the ground.

Officer Injured but Stable

The injured 42-year-old cop was rushed to a west London hospital. Thankfully, his condition was described as stable and non-life threatening. He has now been discharged and is recovering at home.

Suspect Arrested After High-Speed Dodge

A 28-year-old man was nabbed later the same day at a Feltham address, arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH). Police also recovered a grey Yamaha T500 motorbike believed linked to the incident.

The suspect was taken to a west London police station and has since been released under investigation. Hounslow CID detectives are leading the probe.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Detective Inspector Thomas Bowen said: “The rider deliberately drove at the officers. One was lucky not to be seriously injured or killed. This was a shocking attack and likely witnessed by the public.”

The bike was described as a grey Yamaha T500. The rider wore a black crash helmet, the passenger a white one. The moped had been seen acting suspiciously earlier near Syon Park.

Detectives urge anyone who saw the moped behaving oddly, the collision itself, or the bike fleeing the scene to get in touch immediately. Dashcam footage from nearby motorists could be crucial.
