Man Dies After High-Speed BMW Crash on A4 Bath Road

Tragedy struck early this morning on the A4 Bath Road in Reading after a high-speed police chase ended in a fatal crash.

High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Deadly Collision

At 5.17am on May 23, Thames Valley Police spotted a blue BMW racing along the A4. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it refused to pull over. The pursuit was quickly called off for safety reasons. Moments later, the BMW crashed, leaving a 41-year-old man dead at the scene.

Two Others Hurt, Suspects Arrested

Two other men sustained injuries, though their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening. Meanwhile, a 31-year-old and a 27-year-old man have been arrested and remain in custody in connection with the crash.

Police Refer Case to IOPC Amid Investigation

Due to previous police contact, Thames Valley Police made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The IOPC has launched an independent investigation, with Thames Valley Police fully cooperating.

The A4 Bath Road remains closed in both directions between Berkeley Avenue and Parkside Road. Motorists are urged to avoid the area while investigations continue.
