McAfee’s Mobile Security team uncovered apps that, once installed, let hackers access your Wi-Fi history, see Bluetooth devices connected to your phone, track nearby GPS locations, and even identify which apps you use. Simply put, crooks can follow your every move.

Even worse, the malware can secretly click on ads in the background, generating cash for scammers — and tanking your phone’s speed with data overload. Android users could unknowingly be fueling a criminal payday.
Google Strikes Back, Removes 30+ Dangerous Apps
McAfee reports over 60 apps with this malicious code have been downloaded more than 100 million times. Google has been alerted and ordered developers to fix the flaws or face app bans. So far, more than 30 infected apps have been booted from the Google Play Store.
“We reported the discovered apps to Google, which took prompt action,” said McAfee’s SangRyol Ryu. “Google has notified developers about violations and required fixes. Some apps have been pulled, others patched.”
While no UK users have reported attacks yet, most infections have happened in South Korea. Still, all Android users must stay vigilant and regularly check their devices.
A full list of the contaminated apps isn’t public after Google removed them, but you can stay informed by following updates from McAfee and Google.
