Gunfire Erupts in Lewisham as Police Intervene Early Saturday
Police stormed into action at 3.55am on Saturday, 9 February, after reports of a man armed with a firearm on Lewisham Road, SE13. The caller also flagged serious concerns for a woman’s safety at a nearby address.
Armed Officers Stop Vehicle, Firearm Discharged
Armed police quickly located and stopped a vehicle near the Blackheath Hill junction. During the arrest, a police firearm was discharged.
One Man Shot, Six Arrested in Growing Investigation
A man in his 20s was rushed to a south London hospital with a gunshot wound. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening. He has been arrested on suspicion related to the incident.
Police also detained six other men. Five face false imprisonment charges, and one is held for possession of an offensive weapon.
