Emergency services were called to Gascoigne Road, Barking, at approximately 1.15pm on Friday, January 27, following reports of a violent assault.

A 28-year-old man was reportedly attacked by a group of men armed with knives and other weapons during the incident.

The London Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service responded quickly. The victim was stabbed and taken to hospital, where his condition is currently critical.

Police arrested a man near the scene and have initiated an urgent investigation into the attack. Officers have cordoned off the area and established a crime scene as detectives from the East Area CID continue their inquiries.

In response to the incident, a Section 60 order has been authorised for the IG11 postcode area. This order grants police the power to stop and search individuals without reasonable suspicion to help prevent further violence.

A police spokesperson said: “It was reported that he was attacked by a group of males armed with weapons, including knives. Officers were dispatched to the scene. A 28-year-old man was stabbed and taken to hospital. His health is critical.”
