Eastbourne Man, 35, Arrested in Major Terror Probe

Counter Terror Team Nets Suspect

Police in Eastbourne have arrested a 35-year-old man in a high-profile counterterror operation. Officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) swooped on the suspect on Friday, March 6. He’s been held under the Terrorism Act 2000 for posting pro-Daesh content online.

This arrest comes amid an ongoing Islamist terror investigation. Police say the man expressed support for a banned extremist group via social media. He remains in custody while enquiries continue, and a property search is underway in Eastbourne.

Police Calm Public Nerves

The probe is being led by CTPSE with full support from Sussex Police. Chief Superintendent Justin Burtenshaw reassured the community:

“I appreciate arrests like this can unsettle the community, but Sussex Police have worked closely with Counter Terrorism Policing South East on this pre-planned operation. There’s no immediate threat to the public, but anyone with concerns should get in touch with police.”
