Driver Walks Away After M27 Car Spins into Hedge
A driver had a lucky escape this morning after his car skidded off the eastbound M27 and crashed into a hedgerow near J5 Eastleigh Airport. The smash happened just before 7.30am amid heavy rain battering the south’s roads.
Mercedes Skids Across Three Lanes
The sky-blue Mercedes spun out, crossing three lanes of the busy motorway before crashing into a grass gully and ending up in a hedge. Emergency crews were quick to the scene.
Lanes Closed as Emergency Services Rush In
- Hampshire Road Policing and Highways England shut one lane to manage traffic.
- Hampshire Fire and Rescue sent two fire engines plus the Rescue Support Unit from Cosham, though the latter wasn’t needed.
- Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service checked the driver at the roadside.
Recovery Team Hauls Car Back to Safety
Ravenscroft recovery specialists arrived to winch the Mercedes back onto the hard shoulder. Spotters slowed traffic in both directions, causing delays as drivers gawked at the aftermath.
