The probe comes after the IOPC received a conduct referral from the Met last night involving two officers. This referral is linked to four other related complaints. All are connected to the arrest of a serving Met officer suspected of kidnap, murder, and a separate indecent exposure allegation.

The IOPC’s investigation focuses on how the Met handled a report made on 28 February 2021. A man reportedly exposed himself at a fast food joint in South London. The watchdog is examining whether police responded properly to this claim.
Multiple Referrals Stir Ongoing Investigations
- Two conduct referrals linked to the kidnap/murder and indecent exposure charges against the arrested officer remain with the Met for local investigation.
- The IOPC is still reviewing a referral about police actions after a report that Sarah Everard was missing.
- A fifth referral arrived today concerning police contact with the arrested officer, who was hospitalised following a head injury sustained in custody.
The IOPC is currently assessing whether any further action is needed on these matters.
