Human Remains Found in Craig Hurcombe Murder Hunt
Avon & Somerset Police have made a chilling discovery in the search for missing 40-year-old Craig Hurcombe. Human remains were uncovered near Gurney Slade late on Wednesday, 14 January, as specialist officers continue to comb the area.
While formal ID is still pending, Craig’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Disappearance Now a Full-Blown Murder Investigation
The investigation has taken a dark turn. Police are now treating the case as a murder inquiry. A man in his 40s was arrested late Monday and remains in custody on suspicion of murder.
Craig was last seen in Gurney Slade around 6.20pm on Thursday, 1 January. He was reported missing nine days later, on Saturday, 10 January. The case was transferred to Avon & Somerset Police from Wiltshire Police on Monday, 12 January.
Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Dashcam Footage
Detectives are begging anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. They need clips from the following roads between 6pm, 1 January and 2am, 2 January:
- Roemead Road
- Roemead Lane
- Simbriss Road
- Pound Lane
- Galley Batch Lane
- Golf Links Lane
Dashcam footage from Roemead Road between 11pm, 30 December and 2am, 31 December is also crucial. Police have carried out CCTV reviews and house-to-house checks but want to speak to any drivers spotted in these areas during the times mentioned.
High-Tech Search Effort Underway
The Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) is leading the hunt, deploying drones, sniffer dogs, forensic experts, and digital investigators. Avon & Somerset’s Professional Standards Department has also been informed due to the case’s serious nature.
