Police sealed off the entrance to Billy Trail on Hayling Island this morning following an urgent call-out just after 11am. The scene quickly attracted attention as a Specialist Hazardous Area Response Team was dispatched from Otterbourne, located 30 miles away near Winchester.

South Central Ambulance Service sent an Incident Response Unit along with two paramedic officers travelling in Land Rover Discoveries down the rough seven-mile off-road track to reach the location. An ambulance, which was reportedly forced to reverse down the trail, left the scene shortly after 1pm, closely escorted by police officers.

It remains unclear whether the ambulance was carrying any casualties. An officer was observed entering the ambulance before it departed at speed. Throughout the morning, police maintained a strict cordon around the trail, preventing public access to the area.

Michelle Archer, Communications Manager for South Central Ambulance Service, declined to comment on the situation, adding to the ongoing mystery surrounding the incident.
