Police have launched an investigation after a firearm was discharged on Shrubland Road, London Fields, Hackney, on the evening of Saturday, 25 February. The incident occurred at around 6.30pm, when emergency services received a call from a member of the public reporting the shooting.
Officers arrived promptly at the scene, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. Initial enquiries indicate that the suspects involved were seen fleeing the area in a blue Mercedes convertible. At this stage, no arrests have been made.
Detective Inspector Mat Freeman from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime North unit urged witnesses to come forward. He said: “We know that when this incident happened there were members of public on the street and vehicles driving nearby. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw or heard anything suspicious at around that time. Also, if you were driving in the area, did you record something on dashcam? Any piece of information, no matter how irrelevant it may seem, could be crucial in piecing together what took place.”
