Massive Blaze Engulfs Romsey Home – 40 Firefighters Race to Save It
Firefighters from five stations are battling a fierce blaze at a house on Winchester Road, Romsey. The fire broke out just before 11am this morning, sparking a huge emergency response.
Over 40 firefighters from Redbridge, Eastleigh, St Mary’s, Southsea, and local Romsey crews are on the scene, fighting to stop the flames engulfing the two-storey home.
Roads Shut, Bus Routes Diverted Amid Chaos
Police have closed Winchester Road in both directions between Cupernham Lane and Southampton Road (A3057).
- Stagecoach South’s Winchester 66 buses are now diverting via Fishlake Meadows and Cupernham Lane.
- Bluestar advises B4 service rerouted along the A27 from Luzborough due to road closures.
Fire Service Confident House Can Be Saved
A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the blaze is intense, impacting the ground and first floors. However, they remain hopeful the property can be saved.
“All persons accounted for,” said the spokesperson, reassuring concerned locals that everyone is safe.
Emergency crews continue to battle the fire as investigations into the cause get underway.
