Bathroom Blaze Leaves Family Homeless After Fire Rips Through Aldershot Home
A devastating fire broke out in a bathroom at a property on Sycamore Drive, Aldershot, early this morning, leaving a family homeless and their home badly damaged. Three fire crews from Hampshire and Surrey Fire and Rescue rushed to the scene just after 8.30am after reports of a person trapped inside.
Firefighters Battle Fierce Flames
Despite a rapid response, the crew operating in breathing apparatus with two hose reels couldn’t prevent the fire from spreading beyond the bathroom into the roof space. Their efforts contained the blaze but the fire stripped the upper floor of the house.
Cause Under Investigation – Smoke Alarm Saves the Day
Specialist investigators from Surrey Fire and Rescue are now probing the cause of the blaze. Fortunately, the three occupants, who slept upstairs, escaped without injury thanks to an alert smoke alarm waking them in time. Firefighters also successfully stopped the flames from leaping to the neighbouring property.
Severe Damage Leaves Family Devastated
- The property suffered extensive internal damage.
- Most rooms are smoke-logged, with the upper floor completely gutted.
- The family is now forced to find alternative accommodation.
