Blaze Breaks Out on Eastbourne Pier
Three fire engines and a dozen firefighters from East Sussex Fire and Rescue raced to Eastbourne Pier after a small fire erupted this afternoon. The blaze broke out around 2pm, halfway down the iconic pier.
Firefighters Battle Flames with Hose Reel
The cause of the fire is still unknown. Fire crews quickly deployed a hose reel to douse the flames and bring the situation under control.
Public Urged to Clear the Area
Staff at the scene have asked visitors to leave the pier and nearby areas to let firefighters work safely and efficiently.
Police Also on Scene
Sussex Police officers have been called to assist. East Sussex Fire and Rescue has been approached for comment.
