The family of Dr Shaista Shirazi have paid a heartfelt tribute after the 57-year-old tragically died in a car crash on the A66 near Boldron.

At 7.15am, Dr Shirazi’s BMW crashed head-on with a Renault tipper on the westbound side of the A66. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but sadly, she was pronounced dead there and then.
Family Mourns “Deeply Caring and Compassionate” Mother
“Our mother was a deeply caring and compassionate woman who was loved by all who knew her,” the family said.
“She had a rare ability to make people feel heard and understood and was a trusted confidant and loyal friend to many across the world.”
Investigation Underway
Police have launched a full investigation into the cause of the collision. No further details have been released at this stage.
