Warning After Two Hospitalised from ‘Rogue’ Ecstasy Tablets on Isle of Wight
Police have sounded the alarm over a dangerous batch of ecstasy tablets circulating on the Isle of Wight after two people were rushed to hospital.
‘Red Death Cons’ Tablets Linked to Serious Illness
The pills, reportedly red and nicknamed ‘Beano’s’ or ‘Red Death Cons’, may contain harmful substances like ketamine or methamphetamine. Users have suffered from alarming symptoms including light-headedness, numbness in hands and feet, and soaring anxiety. Officials warn that taking these could be life-threatening.
Victims Released but Risk Remains
Both patients admitted on Tuesday 30 May have now been discharged and are recovering at home. It’s believed the tablets were bought locally, but authorities want to trace their origin urgently to stop more harm.
Police Urge Public to Hand in Suspicious Pills
Detectives warn anyone with these tablets not to use them. Instead, hand them over at Newport Police Station for safe disposal and analysis. Officers assure those who respond will not face prosecution for possession if handing them in to protect others.
DC Jessica Hughes, leading the inquiry, said: “We don’t condone drug use, but it’s vital we trace these tablets and stop anyone else taking them. They pose a serious risk. If you have any info, please get in touch immediately.”
