Youth Gang Sparks Chaos on Eastbourne Rooftop
Police rushed to an Eastbourne abandoned building on the evening of 25 January after a gang of youths climbed onto the roof. The troublemakers let off fire extinguishers and shouted at passers-by, causing alarm in the area.
Standoff Ends in Three Arrests
The teens refused to come down straight away, forcing officers to spend precious time coaxing them down safely. Three youngsters were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and wasting police time.
Youths Released but Investigation Ongoing
After a stern warning, the teens were de-arrested and sent home. Sussex Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing and pledged to take appropriate action.
Sussex Police Issue Sharp Warning
“Entering abandoned buildings is extremely dangerous and can put everyone at risk,” said Sergeant Knight from Eastbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team. “Trespass is usually a civil matter, but we will act firmly where crimes occur. Parents should warn their children about these dangers and the public must report incidents immediately.”
Sussex Police urge the public to stay safe and steer clear of hazardous sites. They remind parents to keep kids away from risky spots and encourage everyone to report suspicious behaviour.
