A 61-year-old man was found dead at his home in East Grinstead, prompting a serious murder investigation.
Sussex Police were called to a property in Paddock Gardens at approximately 7:45pm on Thursday, December 19, after reports of a domestic incident. Paramedics attended the scene but the man was sadly pronounced dead at the address. His family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
A 69-year-old woman from East Grinstead was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as officers continue their inquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Jon Gillings said, “We are in the early stages of this investigation, and our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones as we seek to establish the exact circumstances of what happened. This is being treated as an isolated incident between two people known to each other. We have increased police presence in the area and urge anyone with information to come forward.”
Police have increased patrols around Paddock Gardens to reassure local residents. Authorities stress there is no wider threat to the community at this time.
