A drink-driver got caught red-handed after their car automatically dialled 999 following a two-vehicle crash on the M27 near Fareham. The Ford Fiesta’s smart tech didn’t miss a beat and alerted police straight away after the smash near junction 10 on Thursday night.

Police said: “It’s a great safety feature, unless you’re a drink driver. Yep, you heard that right – the car actually called us to report the crash, and that’s when we found out the driver was drunk.” The driver was arrested on the spot.
