Tragedy struck on Saturday night when a horror smash claimed two lives on the A4421 near Newton Purcell. A black Vauxhall Insignia collided head-on with a bus heading the opposite way. The driver, aged 42, and front-seat passenger, aged 34, died instantly at the scene.

The crash happened at around 8:45pm as the Vauxhall was driving towards Bicester. Emergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to save the two victims. The bus driver suffered minor injuries and is currently recovering.

Officers from Bicester Howes Lane police station are investigating the collision and temporarily closed the road. The A4421 has since reopened.

PC Neil Bowker said: “This was a tragic incident during which two people sadly died at the scene. I am appealing for any witnesses to come forward. If you used the A4421 at the time or have dash-cam footage, please check your recordings and contact us. Any information could be vital.”
