Fire Breaks Out in Russett Way
London police rushed to a residential blaze on Russett Way, SE13, after the London Fire Brigade raised the alarm at 5.56am on Saturday, 6 March. Fire and rescue crews battled the flames and called in police to the scene.
Three Injured, One Child Dies
Three people were hurt in the fire—a 34-year-old woman and two boys aged five and 14. They were swiftly taken to hospitals across south London. Despite desperate efforts, the youngest boy tragically died just before 8am. The woman and older boy remain in serious condition.
Investigation Underway
Detectives and crime scene teams are collaborating with firefighters to pinpoint the fire’s cause. Specialist family liaison officers are supporting the grieving relatives.
Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith said: “A child has lost his life in extremely tragic circumstances. At this stage, I am keeping an open mind as to the cause of the fire. I urge anyone with information to come forward.”
