Boy Thrown from Tate Modern Viewing Platform in Shocking Attack
A six-year-old boy was horrifically thrown from the tenth floor viewing platform of the Tate Modern in Southwark on Sunday afternoon.
Teenager Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder
Police were called at around 2.20pm on 4 August following reports of the boy being hurled from the high vantage point at Bankside SE1. The child was found critically injured on a fifth floor roof below.
Emergency teams, including London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene. The young victim was treated on-site before being airlifted to hospital in a critical condition. His family are now receiving police support.
A 17-year-old male, who was with other members of the public on the tenth floor platform at the time, was quickly detained. Police say there’s no evidence he knew the boy.
Witnesses Help Police with Investigation
The teenager was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody. Several witnesses have come forward to assist with statements as the investigation continues.
Visitors to the Tate Modern were eventually allowed to leave the gallery after the incident.
